April 23, 2015, New York – 4K Media Inc., the Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. subsidiary which manages the licensing and marketing of the Yu-Gi-Oh! brand, announced that K2, the Italian kids' channel owned by Discovery Italy, has licensed from Cattleya S.r.l. season 1 of Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V, the latest installment in the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise.
“Working with Cattleya's Giovanni Stabilini, we've expanded our relationship with Italy's K2 children's channel through a broadcast agreement that will bring all 49 episodes of Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V to free TV in Italy and the Italian speaking areas of Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Austria and Vatican City beginning in late spring or early summer 2015,” announced Kristen Gray, SVP Operations, Business and Legal Affairs for 4K Media Inc. “We've enjoyed working with K2 on the previously licensed Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal and look forward to K2 bringing this exciting extension of the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise to viewers throughout Italy.”
“Cattleya is known for recognizing popular programming trends in the international marketplace and introducing them to our broadcasting friends in Italy,” added Stabilini. “We already happily cooperated with K2 and 4K Media on Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal, and we are happy to keep on working with them on such a successful brand for many years to come.”
In season 1 of Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V, Yuya Sakaki's dream is to follow in his father's footsteps and become the greatest “duel-tainer” in history. Thinking he just might pull it off, he suddenly discovers Pendulum Summoning, a never-before-seen technique that lets him summon many monsters at once. But when countless rivals emerge to steal his spotlight, Yuya needs to gear -up his game as dueling evolves into a non-stop world of action. In the all-new Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V, monsters literally come to life with advancements in holographic technology. Duelists no longer stand by and let their monsters battle for them on the playing field - they now ride their monsters as they race through real locations to take down their opponents with their Action Cards!
The launch of Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V continues the brand's association with K2, as the channel has aired seasons 1, 2 and 3 of Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal.
